It seems that the over 60s is the demographic that is the most open and honest in seeking new partners. According to new research headed by Dr Wendy Watson and Dr Charlie Steele of Bowling Green State University in Ohio Over 60s are not interested in playing dating games.
It has been found that over 60s who use dating sites to find new partners value honesty over other more physical attributes and moreover are the fastest growing group of online dating site users.
Dr Watson said that older people are more concerned with what they seek in a partner and not as concerned about physical attributes as younger people. Older people, for example are interested in potential partners' religious and political views and describe themselves in a different way from that used by younger counterparts.
The researcher added: "We are finding that older adults appear to market themselves differently on online dating sites than younger adults. Gone is the focus on appearance and status."
He added that the language used by older daters included such phrases as "young at heart" and "active" to show that they enjoyed good health and fitness.
Older single people were shown to be looking for companionship rather than long-term relationships or no-strings attached dating.
